September 14

We had a wonderful time visiting with the missionary family yesterday.  They are the Woodrings from Vietnam.  Unfortunately, we were only able to fellowship with the mother and their three children.  He had to go back to Vietnam for some business and his plane was late getting into the airport.  We were able to meet him at church last night and he seemed like a really nice person.  Tonight we are having a ladies soup/salad fellowship at the church to get to know some of the other missionary ladies better as well.

Today is going to be our first official day of homeschooling.  We are starting off our morning by getting their school pictures made.  Then we are heading to an African exhibit in a city close by.  We are doing a unit study of Africa, so this exhibit is timely (along with one of our missionary family being from Uganda as well).

Today I am going to focus on the kitchen.  I need to straighten up and reorganize my cabinets along with cleaning out the refrigerator.  Also, I think mopping is in order as well.

Have a blessed day!

Okay, so I never made it back to post about my bedroom accomplishments.  There are two guesses here~ either I have been so busy cleaning I just haven’t had time to sit back down at the computer to write, or I was too embarrassed to say that I still haven’t finished it.  You can guess. lol!

I am entertaining missionaries from Vietnam tomorrow for lunch, so today will be spent mostly cleaning up.  I am going to assign each child a section of the house and they will be responsible for that section.  Everything from top to bottom.

I found a neat contest that a blogging friend blogged about that I am going to mention here as well.  It can be found at

I am excited about this and would love to win it.

So, the intention of this blog was to be accountable daily for what I do.  So, as a promise to myself, I will check in here daily.  Hopefully, someone in cyberspace will help keep me accountable as well.

For years, I have blogged with homeschool blogger. I have absolutely nothing against them, I just wanted a change. I really don’t know why. Maybe it is because I am turning 40 in a few months and I am feeling that need to totally change my life around. It is neat to go back and to read posts from several years ago and to see how I have changed. There are things I wrote about that I now think “my, how immature I was.” Things that I look back at and see that I handled a situation wrong or how far we have come in a discipline issue with one of our children. I can also look back and see where I wrote about Conner starting high school. Now, he is starting his senior year.

Now, some may ask “why is the title my homemaking journey?” Honestly, because I still do not have the art of homemaking totally together. That is my immediate goal. After 20 years of marriage one would think I would have it together. I don’t. Actually, I have “fell apart” in many areas over the past few years. I am ready to get every area of my life back in line. God has been so good to me, so for me not to take care fully of what He has given to me is just plain wrong. I am so thankful for His small voice that reminds me when I am messing up. So I am going to use this blog to help me to stay on track. It will take discipline to log on here daily (well, except for Sunday’s) and give an account for what has been completed around my home. However, I am up for the challenge.

This weekend, I have family coming in from South Carolina to spend the holiday weekend with us. My immediate goal for today is to have my bedroom completely unpacked and cleaned. Unpacked you may ask? Yes, we just moved into our home the end of June. It is completely unpacked except for my bedroom and about 14 boxes in the dining room. By the end of the week, I plan to have it all completed. But for today, just my bedroom. I would post a before picture, but I would die of embarrassement. So, I will post a finished shot tonight.

Also, another immediate goal is to have all of my chidlren’s books in order for home schooling. We usually start after Labor Day. This year will be no exception. However, Labor Day is a week away. So, the pressure is on in that area as well.

Other goals for me~ Healthier cooking, better menu planning, staying consistant with my Pampered Chef business, doing a better job budgeting the money, exercise daily and most important, my time with the Lord.

Off to clean!
